AMERICA'S ICONIC CITIES

Established as a city in 1854, today St. Paul is the Arts and Culture Capital of the Midwest and is the second most populated city in the state. Between 1920 and 1933 when the Prohibition Amendment was in effect, St. Paul was notorious for their lawlessness and corruption that bred gangsters. John Dillinger, Babyface Nelson, Roger “The Terrible,” Touhy Alvin “Creepy” Karpis and the Barker gang began to storm the streets of the city, robbing banks, holding up train stations, and kidnapping hostages for ransom. These corrupt gangs hid out underground in what was the Red Light District of the time. Today, St. Paul is a safe and beautiful city flaunting vibrant arts and filled with incredible history both above and below ground.
